Milford is about to get a new pizza stop on the Post Road. Riko’s Pizza, the Connecticut chain known for paper-thin tavern-style pies and its cult-favorite hot oil pie, is building a Milford restaurant, and the former Plan B Burger Bar space at Milford Marketplace, 1638 Boston Post Road, is where it’s expected to land.
Riko’s CEO Carl Bachmann told FSR Magazine in late August that the company’s Milford location is under construction, alongside new restaurants in Holbrook on Long Island and Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood. The company hasn’t announced an opening date, and as of Friday the Milford spot was not yet listed on Riko’s locations page.
Where things stand
The storefront sits in the Whole Foods-anchored Milford Marketplace plaza, in the building Plan B called home for 15 years. Milford Voice checked the city’s published monthly building-permit reports for August and September 2026 and did not find an entry for 1638 Boston Post Road, so permit details for the renovation are still unclear. We’ll update this story as the city’s records and Riko’s own announcements catch up.
What Riko’s is known for
Riko’s, founded in 2011 and family-owned, calls itself a reboot of the old-school bar pie. Its pizzas are 13 inches, cut into six slices and baked on an ultra-thin crust. The signature is the hot oil pie: a classic thin-crust cheese pizza finished with house-made hot oil crafted from stinger peppers.

The newer hit is the salad pie. Riko’s now serves its salads three ways (in a bowl, as a wrap or on top of a pie), with choices like Caesar, Buffalo chicken, Mediterranean and BBQ chicken ranch. The menu also includes oven-roasted wings that are never fried, sliders, burrata, meatballs and desserts. Restaurants typically have a big bar with craft beer, wine and cocktails, plus plenty of TVs for game day.

A growing Connecticut chain
Riko’s currently lists 13 restaurants: seven in Connecticut (Darien, Fairfield, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Westport and two in Stamford), three in New York (Levittown, Merrick and White Plains), two in Florida (Naples and Tequesta) and one in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Milford would be No. 14 and the chain’s eighth Connecticut location. Until it opens, the closest Riko’s for Milford diners is on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.
Goodbye, Plan B
Plan B Burger Bar served its last burgers in Milford on Sunday, June 14, ending a run that began in 2011. Plan b Restaurants decided not to renew the lease, according to a statement reported by WTNH News 8, and the closing date was also reported by CT Post. Burger-and-bourbon fans can still find Plan B at its two remaining restaurants: 120 Hebron Ave. in Glastonbury and 4 Railroad St. in Simsbury, both listed on the company’s website.
What’s next
There’s no opening date yet, and we won’t guess at one. When Riko’s sets a date, puts up signs or posts hiring notices, we’ll share it here.
