Food For The Soul, the takeout soul food spot at 217 Bridgeport Ave. in Milford, appears to have closed for good. Google now lists the restaurant as permanently closed, and its Instagram account, which has more than 5,400 followers, no longer shows any posts.

A short run on Bridgeport Avenue
The restaurant hasn’t been around long. It was being promoted online as a new soul food restaurant in late July 2025, and the earliest customer reviews on its DoorDash page are from that summer. That puts its time in Milford at roughly a year.

It was takeout only, in a small storefront near the Devon end of Bridgeport Avenue. According to its listings it was open Tuesday through Sunday and closed Mondays, and it also delivered through the apps.
What people ordered
The menu was classic soul food. Dinner platters came with two sides and cornbread. The main choices were whole fried chicken wings, flavored wings like honey garlic, fried fish, shrimp and smothered turkey wings. Popular sides included mac and cheese, collard greens, candied yams and potato salad, and a veggie platter let you pick four sides. Flavored lemonades, including mango and blueberry, were a regular part of many orders.
Customers were fond of it. The restaurant had a 4.7-star average on Google and 4.4 stars from more than 50 ratings on DoorDash. Some reviewers said they drove in from New York for the food. Others said it finally gave them the soul food they’d been missing in the area.
What’s next for the space
Nothing has been announced for 217 Bridgeport Ave. yet. If a new tenant posts signs or files for permits, we’ll update this story.
