MILFORD β Give yourself a little extra time on I-95 during the workday starting next week.
The state Department of Transportation says crews will clean the catch basins, also called scuppers, on I-95 bridges in both directions through Milford and Orange from Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Dec. 4. Scuppers are the drains that carry rainwater off bridge decks.
What to expect
- Lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- No work around state holidays.
- Traffic-control signs and crash trucks will guide drivers through the work zones.
- The schedule could change because of weather or other conditions, CTDOT says.
CTDOT calls them “various lane closures” and hasn’t said which bridges crews will hit on which days, so a closure could turn up anywhere along I-95 in town during those hours.
The work covers a dozen shoreline towns from Greenwich to New Haven, including Milford, Orange, West Haven and New Haven. The contractor, Latec LLC, and state crews are doing it under state project DOT01730554CN.
Also: overnight closures on Route 15
If you take the Wilbur Cross Parkway, there’s separate work underway. CTDOT is upgrading and replacing guiderail on Route 15 northbound from Exit 38B to the Heroes Tunnel, through Milford, Orange, Woodbridge and New Haven. That project started Oct. 14 and is scheduled to wrap up Friday, Dec. 18.
- Lane closures run Sunday nights through Thursday mornings, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Traffic-control signs, crash trucks and state troopers will guide drivers through the work zone.
- The contractor is Atlas Industrial Services (state project DOT01730558CN).
