MILFORD β A 53-year-old Milford man has pleaded guilty in federal court to stalking and to sending threatening communications across state lines, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts announced Friday, Oct. 23.
Michael Reilly entered the plea on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in U.S. District Court in Hartford. He pleaded guilty to six counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications and one count of stalking, according to the office.
What prosecutors say happened
According to court filings cited by prosecutors, between Nov. 14 and Nov. 18, 2025, Reilly used a Facebook account under the public username “Mike Reilly” to post numerous threatening messages about one person. Court papers identify that person only as “Victim 1.” Milford Voice is not naming the person or repeating the posts in full. Prosecutors said the posts included threats to beat the person.
A federal grand jury indicted Reilly on Dec. 11, 2025. He has been held in federal custody on pretrial detention since his arrest on Nov. 18, 2025, the release said.
What happens next
U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea scheduled sentencing for Jan. 21, 2027.
Each charge carries a sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. A federal judge will set the actual sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the statutes that apply.
Who worked the case
U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and Acting U.S. Marshal for the District of Connecticut John Iverson announced the plea. The Milford Police Department and the FBI assisted. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Steven H. Breslow and Caroline Merck of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Massachusetts are prosecuting the case.
